Greg Webber

1970年：10歳の時、ホットバターサーフボードとマッコイサーフボードのシェイプをコピーし、ティンバーフィン付きの発泡スチロールボードをシェイピングしたのが初まり。

1973年：　グレッグの兄ジョンと家のバックヤードでウェバーサーフボードをスタート。

ボンダイビーチのゴミ箱で見つけたノーズがスナップしているMidget Farrelly（かつてのオーストラリアワールドサーフィンチャンピョン）のボードから、初めてのポリウレタンウェバーサーフボードをシェイピング。

1979年：　シドニーのクナラに近郊のキャリンバCaringbahのG&Sで働く。　G&Sウェバーシェイプスから、オーストラリアのジュニアタイトルをとったリチャード・クラムRichard Cramを送り出す。

1981年：　ホットバターサーフボードのもともとの工場があったブルッカベールで働く。世界ナンバー5を勝ち取ったグレッグ・デイGreg Dayをホットバターウェバーシェイプスから送り出す。

1983年： アンゴーリAngouriのロッド・ダルバーグRod Dahlbergとインサイトサーフボードをスタート。　リチャード・クラムRichard Cram, グレッグ・デイGreg Day, ジョー・エングルJoe Engel.とたくさんのプロサーファーのボードをクリエイト。

1985年： インサイトサーフボードがシドニーに拠点を移す。バートン・リンチBarton Lynch, マイク・ロムエルスMike Rommelse, シェン・へリンShane Herringをスポンサー。シェン・トムソンShaun Tomson, サニー・ガルシアSunny Garcia, ケリー・スレーターKelly Slaterとほかの多くのプロサーファーのボードもシェイピング。

1985年： 初めてのフルコンケーブデザインを発案。FCSが存在する前に、世界中で爆発的に売れた革命的フィンであるカーブフィンも同時にデザインした。

1992年： フルコンケーブボードで、シェン・へリンShane Herringは、コークコンテストでケリー・スレーターKelly Slaterに勝ち、ワールドタイトルをリードした。その当時、ケリースレーターを含む他の全てのサーファーがVボトムボードを乗っていた。

同じ年に、きついロッカーの''バナナコンケーブ''を生み出し、革新的なサーフィンを可能にした。

1996年ヤンバでウェバーサーフボード再構築し、さらなる発展のため2004年にシドニーに拠点を移す。

タジ・バロウをスポンサーし、アンディ―・アイアン、ダミアン・ホブグット、クリス・ワード、ジョシ・カーと多くのプロサーファーにボードを提供。



1970: Started shaping Styrofoam boards at age 10 and put timber fins in them and copied the shape from Hot Buttered and McCoy surfboards.

1973: Started Webber surfboards with brother John making them in the family back yard. Shaped his first polyurethane Webber surfboard from a broken nose Midget Farrelly board that he found in a trash bin at Bondi beach.

1979: Worked for G and S in Caringbah near Cronulla in Sydney. Made boards for Richard Cram who won Australian junior title on a G and S Webber shape.

1981: Worked for Hot Buttered at Brookvale in the original house/factory before it was knocked down. Shaped for Greg Day who came #5 in the world on a Hot Buttered Webber shape.

1983: Started Insight surfboards with Rod Dahlberg at Angourie. Made boards for Many pro surfers like: Richard Cram, Greg Day, Joe Engel.

1985: Moved Insight to Sydney and sponsored guys like Barton Lynch, Mike Rommelse, Shane Herring, while making boards for other pro surfers like Shaun Tomson, Sunny Garcia and Kelly Slater.

1986: Started doing his first full concave designs, as well as his first curved fins. Before FCS existed.

1992:Shane Herring beat Kelly Slater to win the Coke Contest and lead the world title on a full concave while all other surfers, including Kelly were on vee bottoms. Did the high rocker "banana concave" in the same year to allow for radical surfing in the bowl.

1996: Re founded Webber surfboards back at Yamba and then moved back to sydney in 2004 to continue to build Webber surfboards. Sponsored Taj Burrow and shaped boards for guys like Andy Irons, Damien Hobgood, Chris Ward, Josh Kerr.
